Sanstec Design Blog

“What’s in a name?”, Juliet asks in Act II, Scene 2, of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Well, in business, the process of devising a name and creating a brand that clearly defines what a company does is an important procedure. This is especially pertinent when you have to consider generating an image that resonates favourably in the eyes of the consumer.

For me, the development of the Sanstec name came from a clear and meaningful message that I wanted to convey to my clients, prospective customers, and suppliers alike. It is simply a fusion of two components and an embodiment of everything the business represents. You don’t have to be a scholar to work out that the first part of the name, Sanstec, originates from my surname, Sanderson. As a small business owner, I am, like so many others, the face of the business, and as such, I believed it to be paramount to make a distinctive connection between the two.

The second part, the ‘tec’, or technical, is an important characteristic that I felt strongly about incorporating, having identified a strong synergy between creative problem solving within a technical engineering environment. So, I wanted to make it clear at the very top level that the company ethos, mission, and vision will be focused on providing technical solutions utilising our mechanical design engineering capabilities, interests, and expertise.

I have been using the Sanstec name and the Sanstec Design brand for the last 25 years, but unlike the character of Romeo, I have no plans to change it any time soon.
