So here we are again amidst another national lockdown. 2020 most definitely has been a tough year both from a business and personal perspective for me and I’m sure for everyone who is taking the time to read my humble blog posts.
Like most people I am trying to come to terms with the loss all those things I took for granted a few months back, like going out, catching up with friends or family and visiting my local gym. Who would have thought these so-called simple things would be taken away from us?
But I am trying my very best to dig deep and keep positive. It seems to ring true when they say about the correlation between mental health and exercise, because I am cycling an awful lot at the moment and find that it really helps to clear my head, keep me calm and more importantly, help me to feel better. Whilst out cycling, walking or taking any form of exercise, I try and utilise the time to be creative by thinking through some of the engineering projects we are working on at the moment.
One of these is an older Ford Escort (MK6 if you are interested), which is giving me quite a few headaches as I’m currently trying to source some parts for it to 'upgrade' certain aspects from the huge 'ford motor company' parts bin. The ethos of this particular project is to essentially only develop the car with original Ford parts/part options but due to lack of availability and obsolesce, this is actually being much more difficult than anticipated, so we might need to use our capability to design and make what's needed ourselves.
Let’s try and get through this terrible time by enjoying the little things and keep talking to one another. Just because there are restrictions doesn’t mean we can’t utilise modern technology by keeping in touch with clients and friends alike. Come on fellow engineers, friends and colleagues, we’ve all got this….
