Whilst practising social distancing, like so many of the UK population and indeed people across the globe, I have found myself not dwelling on the negative side of the current situation, which is all too easy to do so, but focusing on the positives.
A song came on the radio recently and immediately I was transported back to 1977, our Queen’s Silver Jubilee year, when Ian Dury and the Blockheads released their famous track ‘Reasons to be Cheerful Part 3’. Known as a “shopping-list” song with lyrics which simply listed reasons to be cheerful, comparisons can easily be drawn with this concept and that of generally being thankful despite the current crisis we find ourselves in.
Like every person on the planet I’m thankful for all the key workers, who are still trying to keep things going. I am truly heartened by all the kindness being shown to others in their time of need. I’m lucky I can still work, providing design engineering support to our clients, who too are trying to keep things moving. The sun is shining – stay calm, be nice and keep well all.
