In business, it’s generally acknowledged that in order to bring in new work, you have to get out there, in the big wide world, so to speak. This can take many forms, such as networking, attending a trade show, or arranging a catch-up over coffee or lunch with a business associate.
For over 25 years, Sanstec Design has maintained this approach, having participated in all of these activities. It is never easy to constantly keep in touch, but the importance of ensuring existing relationships are maintained, relevant, and up-to-date, etc., is paramount. Social media helps, but we find that there are occasions when a face-to-face meeting with a contact or prospective client is most definitely required.
But it’s just not getting out there, which is important. Yes, you have to physically put yourself in the right place at the right time, but you also have to make sure that your internal processes are also in a good place too. So, once you have accepted a new mechanical engineering contract or CAD design opportunity, you have to be satisfied that you are in a position to purposefully support the client in managing their developments to a successful outcome.
Like many other business owners, I’m out there a lot, but I’m also trying my best to make sure we’re ready to hit the ground running for our next contract. If you want a design engineer that can help you make things happen, then why not look me up or send me a connection request on LinkedIn?
