It is a truth universally acknowledged that in business a handshake is a symbol of agreement. Who would have thought a few months ago that we are now in a situation where that is no longer possible? In this new arena where meetings are undertaken virtually and socially distanced face to face meetings are kept to a minimum, how are business managers sealing the deal?
As a design engineering business, like many others out there who rely on a steady stream of project work, it is essential that when dealing with a new client they are comfortable that you can not only technically carry out the work but believe you can deliver, both on time and within budget. Usually our new client meetings are undertaken face to face, and over a coffee or two, so that belief can be achieved by talking over the needs and issues ahead, but that just isn’t as easy to facilitate under this regime of the ‘new normal’.
Despite this we are still attracting enquiries from new clients – thank you! And we will endeavour to do our upmost in creating a relationship of trust with all our design engineering partnerships, both new and old. Hopefully in the not too distant future we can get back to looking our clients in the eye and shaking on it.
