Engineering has continued to evolve over time to keep up with consumer demands. It is possible that when Robert Stevenson, the Wright Brothers and Henry Ford, for example, invented their specific machines, they never imagined there would be moderately affordable electric versions being designed, developed and engineered for consumers like you and me. But progress and modern times dictate that we must now bring products to the marketplace which are deemed kinder to the planet but still get us, in an effective and efficient manner, from A to B.
The engineering community, therefore, never stands still. Over the years, since these products were initially showcased, designers, engineers, scientists and manufacturers alike, have been finding better ways of powering these machines and developing their components. For example, a recent success in aerospace, has been the maiden flight of the world’s first all-electric passenger plane: the Alice. Additionally, the electric car models that we have been accustomed to seeing on our roads, is something which is not entirely new, as the concept has actually been around since the 19th century. Of course, these inventions are all different, but modern manufacturing methods have allowed them to have at least one thing in common: injection moulded parts.
It is generally acknowledged that plastics in the transportation industry have replaced other raw materials such as steel, which is well known to be one of the worst industries negatively affecting global emissions. So injection moulding is used to produce durable, lightweight components and internal fittings such as dashboards, flooring, seating, doors and luggage racks. Over the 20 plus years that Sanstec Design has been operating, the team has been engaged in the design and development of a multitude of products with injection moulded components as the core of the package, and we therefore have an extensive knowledge of this particular development cycle. So if you need any design assistance to aid you on your specific development journey, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
